Few other than the elves themselves know all the paths through Mirkwood, and where they lead. So long as you stick to the correct path, you should be able to make it through the forest free from error, but beware the illusions of the trees.

This river town provides the last line of defense before an enemy reaches the gates of the White City. Normally a peaceful place, this town is situated both on a river and on Mordor's front doorstep.

This great mountain chain runs across Middle Earth from far north to past the fortress of Isengard, where the Ring of Isengard sprouts from their base. Gollum's cave lies somewhere in the depths of these rocks as well, and eagles reside on their peaks.

This circular set of walls surrounding and protecting the tower of Orthanc, at the heart of Isengard, are the tower's outer defenses. Built by the Gondorians, they create an unbreachable ring around Orthanc.

Mordor
[ ]Ephel Dúath
In Common, these mountains are called the Mountains of Shadow, and provide the Western Border of Mordor. This range of mountains is high and treacherous, and houses the home of Shelob, Cirith Ungol. These peaks are all that stand between two enemies, Gondor and Mordor.

Called the inner fence of Mordor, this valley and ridge among the mountains provides a second layer of defense for all the evil that resides in this land.

It is rumored that in the depths of this passage there dwells a great and ancient evil that allow none to pass. Many people vanish from around here, after attempting to exit from the lair of the Spider Queen, Shelob.

Called the Mountains of Ash, this mountain range provides a natural northern border for the lands of Mordor. At a break of these mountains that streches into the Plateau of Gorgoroth, the Dark Tower sits, the fortress of the all seeing Eye.

Called the Haunted Pass, this is the only easy way into Mordor. Thus, the Black Gates were built to guard those who dwell in this land of shadow and fire, and this pass is also heavily watched from the Towers of the Teeth.

This plain is situated directly behind the black gates, where the two mountain ranges meet, the Mountains of Shadow and the Mountains of Ash. There is nothing on this plain.

Between the arms of two mountain ranges there is a desolate plateau, called the plateau of Gorgoroth. On it rests Barad-dûr and the Mountain of Fire, Orodruin. This truly is a desolate place of fire and ash, with little water and food to be found.

This mighty fortress of Sauron lies here, on the plateau of Gorgoroth and in the cover of the Ash Mountain. It has been his stronghold for many centuries, and continues to oversee all that moves in Mordor.

More commonly known as Mount Doom, the one ring was forged here in the depths of this firey chasm and is the one place that it can be unmade. This peak stands on the plateau of Gorgoroth, and has incredibly steep slopes.

Formerly a Gondorian watchtower called Minas Ithil, this place was captured by the Nazgûl and renamed "The Tower of Black Sorcery." It is not a pleasant place, for the undead reside here.

Also called Morgul Vale, this small plain is a strech of bare country behind Minas Morgul. If you can get past the city of the dead and the ringwraiths, you will be able to see where it meets the country of Gondor at Ithilien.
